2018 ZB LT
We have a 2018 ZB LT. Wife loves the car but a fault is driving her mad. Over 6 months ago it started randomly binging and flashing service vehicle soon. Told it was the battery. Replaced the battery and it kept binging. When we got it back to them they told us it was the battery sensor. Got that part in and yep you guessed it, still binging.

We've now paid for 2 things we didn't need and don't have a lot of faith in the local service center. Does anyone have any idea of that could be causing this ? They say the fault that is being logged is a battery fault.

Firstly, have you serviced the car or have you changed the interval on the service reminder?

Also, you need to get a DIY scan tool (Bluetooth phone scanner is good) as it may give you an idea on what's wrong...

Lastly, have a look on the Opel or Buick forums as well since these ZB's are more common over there (mainly Europe) and somebody else might have the same problem as you

the "service vehicle soon" message is a message that indicates a non critical error has occurred, this can be many different things even a dodgy bonnet latch with throw it.

to find the issue you will need a proper scan tool that will give access to gds2, if you can find any remaining holden dealers then they should still have access to gds2 and they should be able to find it.

if by chance they have used gds2 and found it to be something with the battery and they replaced the relevant sensors and battery then it might be something with the wiring like bad earthing, broken wires or a fault in the bcm.

if it is "random" as in one day it does not happen and the next it happens then i would suspect it to be wiring related and i would start by checking earth points, unbolting them a bit moving and tighten and inspecting wiring from back to front of the vehicle.

It is an old Holden service center so you would hope they have the right equipment.

They keep telling me it's giving a battery fault.

It is random. Some trips it won't do it at all. Some trips it will start doing it as soon as we start the car and keep doing it for the whole trip.

Thanks for your advice, I'll look into it.

yeah it is probably an earthing issue.
