A 5w40 oil will be slightly thicker (higher viscosity) at operating temperature than a 5w30 oil will be.

If you’ve got no oil consumption or oil pressure issues then continuing to run on the recommended 5w30 will probably be the best thing to do.

I personally run a 5w40 oil in my SSV but thats because my oil pressure at hot idle is getting low and the thicker oil increases the oil pressure to have a better margin of safety.
