Maybe that’s just a you problem. Mine only drops from full to the about the halfway mark between my 10,000km service intervals. I just did a top off last weekend about 7000kms into the service. Took maybe 200mls tops.
Nope plenty of posts around about L98s using oil. A litre might be an exaggeration but it would be close to it. It drops from full to min on the dip stick between oil changes. My old V6 used about the same. The way to fix the issue is to fit a catch can.

Holden actually consider this quite normal. On some V8s Holden consider 2L or more every 15k acceptable, this too is well documented.

I'm tipping you could still drive it -unless you're red-lining an engine a bit of overfill isn't an issue. If you want them to fix it, I wouldn't hesitate.
Update, I had to drive the car to pick up the missus, 40 minutes there and 40 minutes back. I’ve noticed that the engine is hesitating, around the 2900-3300rpm range. Could this be a symptom? Either way I’m not driving the car until I speak to Holden

Oil usage isn’t typical. Most manufacturers state that oil use age is normal to cover themselves against warranty claims. Oil usage over 10,000km shouldn’t be noticeable.

Yet plenty of information on the net about LS consuming oil on pretty low km engines.

Oil consumption has been an issue with some DOD variants. There was an issue with oil being sucked in to the PCV on some LS engines. (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2012/SB-10062524-7690.pdf). There was also some reworking of the oil galleries or baffles recommended when disabling or removing the AFM. I have also seen recommendations that the oil pump also be changed as the high flow pump is no longer applicable for non-AFM engines.

I've been told if I fit a catch can it will fix my oil usage. Apparently it's not just AFM models that use oil. I probably won't bother as it only drops to min on the stick before I drop the oil. I assume this be about a litre of usage, I haven't measured what comes out and what goes back in.
