Anybody else considering 'retiring' their VF to weekend duties?

I only own one car so no I won't be retiring mine to weekend duties as I don't like the idea of walking or taking public transport everywhere.

MSE #385
I've already put 5000kms on my MSE and some hard ones at that, have about 20 stone chips from blasting up and down mountains with my mates. I love my MSE daily, it puts a smile on my face every time and that is exactly why I bought it, I could never lock it away and not use it. I don't intend to sell it - in 5 years or so when I get the itch to get something else I'll get the paint fixed and store it.

Mine does not get used often. The benefit is when I take it out it is still like brand new. That’s the difference and whilst I have it it’ll be like perfection. I enjoy that factor. Not related to value but I’d assume it wil at least hold as a result anyway. It’s the last of its kind it should be preserved as best can be whilst I don’t have the money to simply store it in a shed, I get enjoyment every weekend or two, but I also enjoy keeping it in mint condition and it shows!

Got me the magazine and all.. haha

I am looking to buy a Redline wagon (when I sell my Silverado) and it will be used week about when I have my kids. The week I don't have the kids I will drive my little old VY ute on gas to keep saving $$$$ so the week I drive the Redline I will be loving life. :)

What a load of ****. You can still buy them new now and in 36-60 months time there will be plenty on the market as they come out of lease. Of course values may hold up a tad more than in the past but they will still be around, just not new, same as any previous model you care to name that was superseded.
There’s a big difference between getting a used lease car over a brand new car to your spec. And an abused lease car will not be the same as one looked after properly. Anyone that missed out being able to get the last of the Aussie V8 SS at the moment that will be looking to get one when they might be able to afford it will not be looking for an ex lease car. They will want a low mileage one.

Just because a vehicle has been leased doesn't mean it will have high kms.

Plenty are leased for tax purposes only.

A builder friend of mine retired few years ago when his daughter got married. I asked him why not keep on building houses and make a few dollars? He said " why should I earn all that money and left it to my son-in-law to have a good time?" My redline ute has done over 16,000 km in the past 8 months, enjoying it everyday.
