Yes, technically safer in a crash but probably involved in more crashes than its old brethren
Having an iPod screen in my peripheral vision is very distracting for me.
Ancient hand operated controls for various things ............... you know where they are, and can feel for them while watching the road.
Screen operated controls ....... you have to look at the screen and touch the correct icon.
But that is a Grand-dad view of the driving world today.
Talking with an equally old mate the other day, and wondering how many younger drivers would be able to start a car with a choke, and drive it with 3 pedals and a gear lever.
And, yes, I know that is so last century, but ...............
