I’m up for my third cam as I have not had much luck with them,I have found they sound tough but ride the converter bad,you have to be very careful if you have an auto you can’t go to big. Who’s had good and bad cams?

Stock stall convertor or aftermarket?

Would think with correct stally & tuned correctly should have nice road manners especially later model injected cars.

Drove an sle with bushpig spec 355 with 4500 stally/4.56 gears which was surprisingly streetable & a few modifed ls1 daily driver cars although must admit need to choose correct parts that match what type of results you want.

I installed vcm 532 cam pack over a year ago , runs all right, no need stall converter, good lumpy notes at idle. Very happy with it.

I’ve had two cams great low/mid range and great sound but under 5ks they rode the std converter bad, kept having to pop into nuteral to stop the push, going to Walkinshaw for 407 cam,was promised by last installers both the cams would not ride the converter, but would be fantastic in a manual.

Just a thought why not get an aftermarket stall say 2500 - 3000 rpm?

Thought I’d get a cam that works with std stall, been down the path of changing drive train it never ends, just wanted to get a better idle and note by a small street cam and tune and just enjoy my ride.

It'd be chaper to get a stall to match your cam. Can get converters that drive like factory, full lock up when cruisng etc. but have enough slip to stop the push when at lights. Will totally transform the car as well, make it feel smoother and heaps punchy off the mark.

What cam do you have now?

Can you get the tuner to lower the idle rpm?

I have a w407 Cammed Redline Auto.
Installed it 10,000k ago.
My w375 made 279kw and w407 makes 317kw (425hp) at the wheels. 38kw (50hp) 53Nm increase

The cars awesome to drive with stock stall converter In Drive has no pushing at idle 650rpm.

Your correct to say that the W407 cam would not ride the converter. It's a good choice

Although at idle you can feel
on the brake pedal
that it's Cammed

You can see in the YouTube oil stains from my old 5ltr VS Statesman.

That’s the cam I’m going for, should have gone to that in the first place and lot listened to the dud promises,I tried to get the other cams to work rite after going back for retunes and rpm changes that improved drivability a bit but still not happy,as for tq change that mite be next. The first Crow cam would be brilliant in a manual for tough idle and low to mid range grunt and the second is a good alround manual cam as well.
