I've avoided chasing this as there could be several things happening: Yes, new temp sender sensor to rule that out, check thermostat to make sure it is still operational. Yes, aircon is operational and doesn't seem to push temp up under normal conditions. Thanks for replies

Air flow is critical. Air cooled engines in vee dubs don't have water cooling at all. My 202 ran red hot until i changed the fan clutch and the difference was amazing.

mine is the same only on hills does the aircon affect the temp a lot. Im living with it at the present because summer will soon be over down here and it will no longer be an issue for another 9 months.

I guess I should have a look at the airflow passages on my radiator too and maybe check the effectiveness of my fan/fan clutch

If your fan is not pushing a lot of air it is worth changing it out. The fan clutch can be tested for correct operation.

Here is one way to test it

From a current online Total: 702 (members: 39, guests: 618, robots: 45)

The odds are someone might read this thread and be helped with a coolant issue or may have a clutch fan ...

I have used Tectalloy many years ago but lately been using Nulon premix when on special at SCA for my good cars.

I only use Cottee's green lime for any cars I don't care for.
