Not saying it doesn't work I just prefer to do it the right way when it comes to crimping terminals.

Fair enough. Last time I did this, I put solder in the wire before using the vice, then heated it up and did a nice solder finish.

Of course there was that problem of another time where I put my extension socket over the vice handle to give me more leverage, and ended up breaking the vice, may have pulled too hard, also may have been a **** vice.

Regarding battery terminals, I've had expensive dual 0ga Stinger terminals with grub screws and never had a problem but don't trust grub screws to hold wires in. I'd rather use basic terminals and just connect wires terminate with ring terminals.

I'm exactly the same. Habit I picked up from working in Cape York. Grub screws hardly ever lasted before the wire fell out because of all the corrugations.

so what is the best way when terminating with grub screws?

i have 4 awg going into a jaycar response amp and it has grub screw terminals,
i was always worried the 4 awg would fall out, and as i was driving home from my gfs house just 20 minutes ago the ground did so i had no stereo,
now i have to fix it in the morning

1. Strip the cable back further than you need to (maybe 3cm total)
2. Heatshrink the last few mm of the cable
3. Remove grub screw completely, insert cable, tighten grub screw.

just check them every week or so for a while, and they'll most likely reach a point where they won't come loose anymore ;)
