I've never seen one of these boxes get "run out" you would hear a bearing noise because run out is the shaft moving off centre. The shaft being bent is not run out but could be mistaken for run out if it was bent how did it get that way?

VEGTS BUILT BLOWN E85
was the tailshaft being replaced because it was an issue flogged out centre bearing or something and was flopping around for ages ? otherwise i cant see too much causing the runout on the rear output shaft

Car has a cam so feel a lot of vibration from that. Was told the runout was from a minor bend, have been sent pics not like I understand them lol.

pretty much after we got engine upgrades which we were told at the time the diff would hold up, well the diff didn’t hold up and it broke which caused the tailshaft to twist and snap in 2 places which also damaged the gear selector housing

last night received quote for gearbox repair stating at $4700 and can go up or new gearbox for $6300 think I’m just going to get the new one

Well the tail shaft breaking explains the output shaft being bent. Maybe get another quote on the gearbox repairs because it shouldn't cost $4700 to change the shaft that sounds like a full rebuild.

yeah I didn’t think it would be that much to repair, but they have told me that $4700 is starting point and will likely go up from there. I’m just going to get a new gearbox put in rather get a job done properly first time round. The quoted amount also includes a new sports shifter being custom built into gear selector (no idea what that really means) but was told it will make the car stronger and better to drive for him

I’ve rang so many other places about gearbox but they’ve all said they will only do auto not manual and it’s easier just getting it all done at the one place. And everyplace has recommended the place the car is currently at

Yea a new one will be good. The shifter changes the length of movement on the gear knob it's self. So it will be shorter making it faster to select gears it is made from billet steel so is technically stronger yes but it's not really a weak point unless a tail shaft hits it lol.
