Can anyone offer advice on what this shadow in the low beam of the headlights may be ?
We have had the globes replaced and adjusted, has not fixed the problem.
The shadow is also visible when lights are on high beam, but not as dark.

It has been suggested that we replace the headlights - but no guarantees that this will fix it.
Any advice much appreciated

Make sure both low beam bulbs are correctly seated in the housing.
Some people have the knack of locking them in cock-eyed.

I remember when I changed the globes in my ve one globe had the locating tab at the bottom of the light and the other at the top

As above. Make sure the bulb is clocked correctly.

Wasn’t there someone who had the shield ️ in their VF projector lens come loose? The one that directs the light to the left away from on coming traffic.

If it is reflector lens, then you should check the shield is secure.

Hi! I have just posted today and I have exactly the same issue, same year model! Watching suggestions but I can't help thinking it's more than a coincidence. Have you always owned the car? My mechanic suggested mine may have been damaged at some point and are misaligned but the pattern on mine seems quite symmetrical, almost like the housing gets in the way of bulb...will attach my image. Am thinking I may have to find good autoelectrician who can check housing. Very difficult to get to lights on this model! To change light was via wheel arch (to save dismantling bits of engine that were in the way).

Looks like the R/H bulb is cockeyed.
I think it's a T17 Torx wrench used to remove a few screws from the lower corner of the wheel arch splash protector.
There should be a suitable wrench with the jack kit, or compressor kit if no spare fitted.
It's a little bit awkward to do, but not that bad.
Just steer the car full lock to the left with the engine running.
There is a procedure to do it in the handbook.
The hardest bit is unlocking and locking the spring keeper on the H7 bulb.

Thanks! Yes that was the side bulb that was replaced last year. Will try and get adjusted. It really makes sense now. :)

Hi Lizzy,
I'm currently facing this issue myself, although both my headlights have the big V.
I am having issues adjusting it out, did you ever figure out the cause?
Doing my head in

Hi Turtleboy, no I haven't bothered yet. Have yours always been like this? I'm wondering if poor design may also be contributing. I wanted to take it to headlight specialist (I'm in Brisbane) but haven't managed to find time yet or the right place.

I've just bought the car and now spent an hour or so trying to adjust the beam pattern.
I drove it up to Darwin from Brissy and spent about $400 on LED's thinking the halogens were just ****, now realising its a headlight issue.
We have a series 1 Calais V with the same looking headlight, beam pattern is perfect.
