VE SS ute 360rwkw N/A, 2016 VF2 SS M6
was going to get a Ve ss or Ve sv6 for next car, how do I avoid timing chain issues, are there certain models or years, Ve series 2? do the hsv's have same timing chain issues? Putting me off seeing a lot of classified mention issues with the cars for sale. Thanks guys, I could move to the dark side and get a xr6 turbo but they are pretty plain and ugly.
Have both a VE V6 09 dual fuel Berlina just clicked up 201000kms Orginal chains, serviced every 7500kms. 08 SS ute L98 engine lifter gone at 30k serviced every 7500km. Go figure it's luck sometimes we also had a AFM 09 As Auto got to 80k no dramas just very ticky sound.

Good service history is a must with all VEs onwards the 15000 service intervals are just to big

SS Commodore - Ford Territory ... both camps
Thanks guys, so no timing chain issues with a Ve series 1/2 v8 ss? And are they ok on gas? I have injected gas in my vz sv6 and it's pretty much same power as on petrol.

In a nut shell, the series 1 V6 VEs and many of the later VZs had a bad batch of timing chains that stretched very slightly. None of the V8s had the chain problem.

OP looking at getting into a VE and is tossing up between SS or SV6.

Asks how to avoid timing chain issues.

Obvious answer is get SS coz doesn't have timing chain issues.

Nothing to do with lacking inches.

Those insisting V8 owners lack inches maybe lack brain cells :)

Don't worry mate
I'm pretty sure that all us inches lacking, unhappy V8 owning members knew exactly what you meant :)
