how to connect steering wheel controls to aftermarketr stereo

Hi - just found this thread. Does anyone know if you can go straight from the clock spring wiring to the aftermarket stereo, without going through the BCM or other hardware?

I used the aerpro adapter cos I prefer plug and play since I don't like cutting cables etc.

Prob got mine off eBay. Note the link says "brand specific patch " to join new HU to original wiring. I got one of those too. I put in a double din pioneer.

I did on my vt.
Where the wiring from clock spring connector goes into the the joiner on the steering column. From the back of that connector (steering column connector) to back of head unit.
The head unit has to be compatible. As in have the that function (steering wheel controls).
Hope l used the right words for you to understand what l'm talking about.
Been a few years since l've done it.
On the third head unit.

Repco keep a good range of the Aerpro bits and pieces.

We tried a range of wires, with nothing working.

Seems the only way to do it is buy the adapter, which for $100 I am not keen on at this stage.

buy the PAC audio adaptor from the USA off ebay, they cost $50-70 all up
