- 2006 WM Statesman V6 Alloytec
Hey guys, first post on the forum so I hope I've got it in the right place
I have owned a 2006 WM Statesman as my first car since Feb, and she has been my absolute pride and joy, reliable, comfortable, and a hit with mates.
However, I have been having a small problem with the air con that has been driving me mad - particularly as the weather warms up and I am again setting the air con to cold.
Basically, when the car is consistently driven at slow speed (i.e. stop start traffic, carparks, etc), the car will ALWAYS turn on the recirculation, which I despise, as I hate the stuffiness of the non-fresh air, as well as the fact that it increases the fan speed automatically when on recirc., making it much louder in the cabin.
Initially, after doing some reading, I thought that it might be because Pollution Mode was on, but I have made sure it is always OFF. I have also done relearn after relearn with the actuators to no avail.
I'm asking this now, even though it's been happening for a while, as today in the warm weather in stop start traffic, my radiator hose sprung a leak, making the engine overheat (even though I replaced the hoses 4 months ago). To make matters worse, I could not switch off the recirc. to save myself, which prevented fresh air from being sucked through at full speed to air cool the engine - forcing me to have the car towed, where I could've easily made it home if I could switch the damn recirc. off - I've reached the last straw!
Sorry for the longwinded rant - hopefully there might be an easier solution to the problem than having to take it to an A/C specialist!
TL;DR: HVAC system keeps turning on recirc. when travelling at low speeds, even though pollution mode is off; what can I do to stop this from happening?
