Sorry, didn't realize that the small mistake of typing "North America" instead of South Africa or Middle East was "Such an incorrect statement" - it's 2 words for crying out loud. I'll ensure that I'm perfect in the future, just for you.

Fact is that despite my mistake, the argument still stands. People are badging Holdens as Chevrolets, so why aren't South Africans badging theirs as Holdens?

OK, keep your knickers on. It was more than two words - it was completely incorrect. Make a statement like that on a specialist forum and expect to get picked up when it's wrong. And this whole thread was about the fact that Commodores "might" be going to the States as Chevs sometime in the near future. If you'd read the whole thread before you posted, you would have realised that they are not going there at present.

Frankly, I don't give a continental how many mistakes you make. Somebody is bound to pick you up when you do, so don't feel obliged to please me. You'll also learn soon enough that the "Chev badge on Holden" theme is long dead on this forum and usually gets canned the moment it appears.

They do. Mail order of holden badges going overseas is doing a roaring trade on ebay. Rebadging cars to a "cool" brand not sold "here" happens the world over.

And Buick badges on VN-VY Commodores.

And Nissan badges on VL Commodores.

I just had a look and this is surprisingly true. You learn something new every day, don't you?

The reason people would want to put a Holden badge onto a Holden built car in the US or some other Holden export market is easy to understand, because the Holden brand is virtually unknown overseas and the Holden insignia is individual and distinctive. Generally, with a few minor exceptions, Holdens have been sold overseas as Chevs, Pontiacs or Vauxhalls, so badging them as Holdens adds to the interest of the car for enthusiasts. It also makes sense because that's what the car really is - a Holden, not a Chev, Vauxhall or Pontiac.

However, putting Chev or Vauxhall (or Buick or Nissan) badges on a Holden in the Australian market doesn't work because all of those brands have been marketed here for years and are well known. There is no rarity or enthusiast interest or support for doing so. In addition, the car is actually a Holden, with only the engine originating from another manufacturer.

ITS NOT FROM ANOTHER MANUFACTURE!!

Its a GM motor, GM is Holden, chev, pontiac and Vauxhal amongst many others PARENT COMPANY.

The Commodore is BUILT in a GM HOLDEN factory. Its a HOLDEN, it uses a GM engine, which is as much a Holden as it is a Chev engine.
It make NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER to put a bow tie on a Holden.
