Was the car running when you bought it?
No, it did not have the box or diff in it (although supplied). I was an auto and has had the PCM changed to a manual configuration by OzTrack.

It was running, according to the previous owner, until the box went and he started on the manual conversion. All parts were supplied and it was a matter of putting it together. All I have changed so far is the cluster programming that has gone from HSV auto to VY SS Manual configuration.

Buyer beware, I knew when I purchased it that there were potential problems. I could have purchased a completed car, I wonder at times about my sanity!

What was the engine out of? Possibly a mismatch in the wiring from one model to another?

Or the previous owner had it all together and couldn’t get it going. Removed the bits and sold it as it was so the buyer couldn’t find out until they (Jolls) repeated it as well.

Engine was definitely in and all the goodies were provided to go with it. Apart from putting the manual engine harness above the fuel lines it was pretty well done. I can see that the PCM has the correct VIN in the data. Apart from the accelerator pedal wiring diagram being incorrect in the manual I had no problems taking the motor out of the written of VY and putting it into the VZ. Simply told LSXtreme the VIN and what we were doing to the motor and the PCM turned up ready to go. I guess we will find out soon enough what the problem is - I am determined to nut this out.

A few more minor setbacks today.

The MAP Key turned up today - went to program it. As per Fu's experience it failed (three times). So no luck there.

Reached out to GM Australia to try and acquire the BCM Security Code to enable me to program a new key as opposed to clone one. GM will not release the data. They advised that only a registered security specialist or one of their dealers have access to the data. I can't believe that an owner can not legitimately purchase the security code for something that they own. It was (apparently) provided to the original owner by Holden but 18 years on I can't get it? I will see what I can come up with by other means to get the data.

I received a response from GM here in Oz in relation to my enquiry with AC Delco. They advised that I need a subscription to Tech2Win to enable programming with the Tech 2. I dutifully took out a three day subscription for AUD75. Set it all up and can see the laptop trying to communicate with the Tech 2. At that point I get error message E4507: Internal System Error! I can't find any detail on the net in relation to the error code so have reached out to AC Delco. Had high hopes - dashed!

So no progress today.

Anyone with experience using a Tech 2 with Tech2Win - love to hear from ya!

So with the key I struck the same thing. You need to buy a key off the dealer. They will then send the cutting code and program code to their affiliate. It will be the only way to get a new key. It's not cheap though.

Thanks Losh

I think I will simply leave it in the hands of the locksmith I have engaged with. I will try to use other avenues to get the BCM Code for future reference.

Have you gone through the wiring on this harness that’s been made?

Hi Fu
Harness is an original manual harness to replace the auto one. All connections appear good and I can communicate with all of the modules individually using the Tech 2. Messages are also being passed between the modules as I could get it to crank. The message "code" that is not working is the one between the PIM and the PCM that enables the fuel injection. The PCM is sending back a no start signal and activates the Theft Deterrent System (no fuel). It also cuts all comms channels bar the primary. This is there area bunch of serial data loss DTCs after the key is turned. IF I delete all of the DTCs and go though the sequence up to cranking the motor there are no codes less the Instrument Cluster showing no serial communications with the radio (which is disconnected).
