G'day,

I'm going to get a set of rims from Bob Jane Tmart. There's no point in buying expensive tyres so I've been looking at those cheap, crap Maxxis tyres. The bloke there tells me that he can't get any of those in so he's offering me 'Silverstone Silica' tyres for the same price. Are these better or worse? Am I getting ripped off here?

tyres arent not the kinda thing you should be short changing ya self on, no matter how good your brakes are there only as good as the contact the tyre makes to the road.

Id also like to know how you decide "there's no point buying expensive tyres"

i can think of 3 points from the top of my head
1- They are safer and less likely to fail.
2- They will last longer.
3- Handling will be improved sinificantly with better tyres.

I've got the maxxis 235 40/18's they are average middle of the range, they are fairly grippy in all conditions, They are half worn nearly after 9000k's (prolly coz of how I drive tho).
