I keep looking at the brown sedan, mine was a wagon but it was that same burnt orange colour. I cant find a single photo, spewing. Brings back so many memories. Mine had a whole range of engines in it over the years.. keeping the original 4spd, diff and brakes, it had the original 1300, a 1400 from a 323, a later 1600, a 2L from a 626,a couple of 12A NA, and a single turbo 13b. I wasnt blowing them up, they were cheap in the day and I used to get bored ;)

Crowning glory was a Leyland P76 V8, for that one we had to remove the strut towers and build a custom front suspension and brakes and restore the structural strength lost with the strut towers. I had a mate that used to custom make bellhousings and stuff, he could fit anything to anything :)

In that whole time, it always had the original 4spd and diff, and I used to abuse them like hell, never had a problem.

Damn I loved that car.. :(

Hahah I am thinking about stancing it.. I really want to keep it original but the urge is so large.... Im going to hellaflush in october with this! And its going to be stanced for that, just for laughs, as im faily certain no one will have a lowered 808 :D

And DAKSTER, that is a lot of engines :| And the little 808 diff stood up to that? im not changing anymore, just wait and see if the stock on blows :D Should pick up a mazda again ;) The 808's are fairly cheap, that green wagon of mine might even be for sale original condition soon! But thats highly unlikely :D

Green Mazda 808, 1976.

Bought beggining of 2012 from northside of brisbane
1300cc standard TC
Manual
No Rust
looked to be in ok order, blown head gasket
Turns out its head was screwed.
In pieces but getting back together sometime!

As I got it.

And now.

Just a few things I have replaced/fixed on teh green machine to date:

Replaced windscreen
Replaced the bottom radiator hose
Re-sprayed the bonnet black (Yes some will dislike it, but its a much better option than having the brown one rust through)
Got 4 new tyres then white walled them
Replaced all carpets with newer, easier to clean carpet.
Replaced rubber weatherstrips on the window sills

I fitted an SAAS Racing seat, However it was a VERY tight fit and unneeded, so i took it out again, going to get originals retrimmed.

Now for some panel work! I would like to, at this stage, point out this is the VERY FIRST time im playing with cars in depth like this, so all this work you see here is my first attempt at all body work etc, im learning and mucking around :D Anyway heres the guards, they were in pretty bad shape....

Before i start:

Then after I get at it with a hammer and a few lumps of steel:

I know they aernt actually that bad the footwells and they certainly aernt rusted, but im just doing this to be sure, i mean there is surface rust starting in areas (wait until you see drivers side) so im just doing the whole front footwells and rear, however not going to strip the boot and do that, it looks good and wont be touched,... yet.

anyway, few more photos...

Also, does anyone have a bottom lip to fit this front end? I dont care on colour, just cant be dented or rusted...

(BIT OF FOOTWELL WORK! To be sure :D)

THEN. I may as well now start my TC engine story.

I bought the car with the original matching numbers TC engine. Now when i got it I was told it was running... and it was, terribly.

I got it home discovered the oil to look like this:

429106_10150726815629747_700599746_11305205_631061188_n.jpg

432043_10150726814559747_700599746_11305202_965618694_n.jpg

If you can see, the oil is milky and horrible, blown head gasket. :(

Got the head gasket off the first time, replaced it, put the engine back in. Got it running and timed correctly. Appears the head was buggered (only ran on 3 and occasionally the 4th would fire of the cylinders.)

So i picked up my SECOND TC (the car hasnt been driven on road yet...) and chucked a sook and decided to do this build properly. Car is looking like this minus all front suspension and running gear in the front.

And so it has started....

425702_10150739265194747_700599746_11350319_1145583071_n.jpg

Yhen i started rebuilding the second TC, turned out it wasnt as good as i was told....

So i replaced ITS headgasket and all other gaskets and then all back together and in the car! It ran perfectly! - minus a front end bearing being screwed.... so i chucked the absolute shits, packed it up and swore as i pushed everything into the shed

...

Anyway after i grew up a bit and got over my sook, I decided to attack a piston engine one last time in a single final attempt to get it running.... again all gaskets replaced and everything. I used the Good head and block (one part from each engine) and stuck them together to build frankenstein...

May 30, 2012 1:59am | Facebook

Its running and running like a beast.

Anyway, thats about all i have for the green machie..

As for future plans, I am going go oldschool on this engines ass now ;)

Its getting turbo'd. In true uni-broke-student and oldschool style. Im running a custom set of extractors, running a 12a turbo unit which is a draw through setup with a webber or dellorto on the front to feed it. Intake will be custom also.

Should be running about 8psi boost on this little baby, just for laughs!

Will keep you all updated with what happens to it :D

and just throw an update here, if anyone reads this I have no idea...

Got bored, decided to build an engine. Because we all do that, right?

Began cleaning/painting engine parts, got through all I wanted to do today to get the block in order. My whole engine is in parts and looks much like:

293275_10151177854669747_387752259_n.jpg

Little plastic baggies everywhere, someone would think something dodgey is going on with the amont of these bags I use....

Anyway. painting photos. came up pretty good!

Before painting:
426766_10151177859659747_457081659_n.jpg

Give it a spray of this, spray of that:
255570_10151177861139747_329006887_n.jpg

388133_10151177858594747_1660423280_n.jpg

And yeah I did spray paint all bolts that hold on engine mounts, front covers to the timing cover, EVEN all 25 or 27 or whatever sump bolts, each one is black, the rails they bolt to is silver, the sump will be black like the engine. Should all look pretty clean when its done! then I put it in the car and ruin all the nice paint...

Heres the sump bolts/rails:
528144_10151177864099747_487277526_n.jpg

Anyway, got all new front end and big end bearings, pistons, rings and thrust bearings from K&M automotive here in brisbane, HIGHLY recommend these dudes, they know whats going down. Just waiting on parts to arrive so I can start putting her all back together! The bottom end at least - still havent got a top half sorted...

(Yeah, I just literally copy and pasted from another build thread I have around)

And as for the green machine, it's all in one piece, running well (fumey - needs a serious tune and wheel aligment) except no brakes (have to get stuck into them...) and its missing a bonnet, seeing as the original was rusted out. I will source one sometime. Apart from that its moving under its own steam, nearly there for RWC. I finally pour all this money into getting it ready for RWC, once it is, I have no money left for rego, love it!
