been a semi-productive week. was on nights at work and had some time to kill so i cut out some alloy plate for my new gauge cluster for under the stereo. today i had to file fit it into the surround and finally got my gauges in. i've fitted a oil temp, trans temp and voltage gauge. some time later i may swap out the voltage gauge for a diff temp gauge that i have sitting in the garage. gotta wire it all up tommorow along with the pyrometer (EGT)gauge mounted under the main dash cluster.

cheers, only about 3-4hrs filing and then polishing with wet and dry. was originally worried that there wasn't enough contrast between the alloy plate and the bezels on the gauges and i almost painted it black. gland i didn't now. but i think i should have polished it a little more but got impatient and wanted to get it into the car:p

Whats a trans and diff temp gauge going to tell you apart from temp? Seems abit out of place.

curiosity partly. i intend to use it for some clubday events once i've done a few more things and maybe a few burnout comps depending on how things go. i'll probably fit the diff temp gauge before the burnouts and see how much extra heat it generates.

the biggest killer of oil is heat. above certain temps the oil film will start to break down. monitoring oil temps during things such as burnouts and club events will mean i know when to pull the plug before i start to do long term damage to gears in both the diff and trans.

yeah mate, arrived a couple weeks ago already. they even re-imbursed me for the cost of the return postage:D so all in all not bad considering it had to be returned 1/2 way around the world. gotta duck out and get some spade terminals so i can finish wiring up the rest of the gauges
