SS Commodore - Ford Territory ... both camps
Plenty of 450hp 308s have been bolted together for the street over the years. That's 1.46hp/cui. With the same mods (compression/cam/heads) you should be able to squeeze 250kW/340hp out of 231 cubes... without it being too angry surely?

I think I'd rather vn/p/r buick over the ecotec particularly if n/a as they feel more torquier for a street car with short diff gears that gemini's have it would be fun.
N/a Ecotec feel lazy.

mild cam.shave crap out of heads & maybe rings & bearing to go with retune
shift kit,2nd hand convertor (2500-2800 stally)
3.9 gears

cheap & cheerful...thrash hell out of it then see if you like that or will want turbo 4 or v8.
Some dude got leyland v8 passed even said 253/4.2 possible.

Forged internals, ported heads, mild/race cam with matching rockers, twin timing chain, machined oil pump cover. Everything will be replaced with brand new parts except the block. I cant justify $4500 for an alloy block. I'm not sure on what comp i'm aiming for yet. There will be a 2500-2800 stally with a stage 2 rebuilt 4l60e. The diff will be replaced with a borg warner using the conversion kit and cut down vl commodore axles and a vz brake upgrade kit and new suspension right round to help tighten it all up abit. 17x8 rims to help keep it on the road

It's still there as a thought to throw the stroker in just weighing it up at the moment. This all gets under way about easter next year hopefully so i've got time to consider my options

don't just "shave the head" that makes FA difference and the power you are chasing everything will need to be done properly.

You are basically asking compression and fuelling to give you the results you need.

It really is a shame you can't get away with an LS1, that would be fun!
