I've been asked by a few to start a thread on what I have done with my 1958 FC Special.
I was standard but NEVER original so to my father out laws disgust I ripped it apart. I built it stock from a shell ten years ago....

Plan (was) to go V6 and the requirements from the mrs was must look original, air con and remain column shift.....
More to come

I started off with an evilbay special, a VT series 2 V6.

I was so excited I placed the V6 engine cover on the old Grey engine...

Trailer scored some bigger rims too

I ripped into the VT. Plan was to use EVERYTHING I could including the full wire harness, brake master and booster etc

Only way to pull the wires through the fire wall is to cut a massive hole!

I still required a live axle diff and steel fuel tank and a vs wiper motor so the second donor car arrived...

On both cars I sold parts ridiculously cheap and still made money. Wreckers must make a sh!t load!!

Engine ready to come out. Came with extractors and a chip too. Pretty much gave it away as the head gasket was blown

So to give an idea of what parts I am using is as follows
VT Engine / Trans
VT Loom
VT Brake master / booster
VT Central locks
VT V8 Radiator
VS LSD Diff
VS Fuel tank and pump
VS Wiper motor
VS Air con Compressor
VS Calipers
VL V8 Rotors on HR Drum stub axles with caliper plates for VS Calipers!

CAR MUST LOOK ORIGINAL - So Bench seat and column shift auto a must. Vintage air con unit so I freeze my balls off on the Vinyl seats. HT Seat belt buckles (NO intertia belt)

More later
