Hi guys,

Don't know if anyone can help but someone told me today there are new restrictions coming in about foglights / driving lights - apparently it's going to be illegal to have them on unless you're driving through fog ... anyone able to shed any light on this? (excuse the pun!)

Thanks :)

i did see an ad in the paper few weeks back... from what i saw the fine is $60 and something about seatbelts (or lack of one) the fine increased to $300 and 3 points

there was one other thing but it is beyond me
hopefully that helped

Yes that's right the other thing was something about dropping a "uie" across a solid centre line.

I just spoke to a friend about it, he said it's always been illegal but they're starting to crack down on it now ... he thinks it's a $70 fine (ish) plus a point or two.

Yep three new rules:
1. Fog lights must be off in clear conditions (I assume this means factory fitted ones too).
2. The DRIVER will cop a fine and demerit points if any passenger of any age doesn't have a seatbelt on (so if one of your mates doesn't have a seatbelt on, you cop the fine. Seems unfair to me.)
3. No U-turns over solid centre line.

According to the queensland transport website its $40 for having your fog lights on, $180 and 3 points for a uie over a single white line, $300 and 3 points for the driver if anyone in the car doesn't wear their seatbelts.

thats ass what do foglights do to anyone ? what would make them illegal?

they can be a bit dazzling and most are brighter than low beam headlights..
