CP 09/08, Built 09/08, Holden, Commodore, VE MY09 Omega, Sedan standard auto.

I replaced the oil filter and tightened it up. Drained the oil into a pan, replaced the plug and then pulled out the oil refill cap and started refilling. Went to do a progress refill check and nothing on the dip stick.

checked it again several times during refill and still no show.

continued to put what I thought was about the right amount in and in put the refill cap over the hole, not reinstalled and left it.

1 hour later no change, 2 hours later about 5-6 mm showing on the dipstick.

3 hours later still no more than 5-6mm so I started it up and shut it down as quick as I could.

cleaned the dipstick each time before checking the fill level

20 minutes after startup shutdown nothing on the dipstick

checked for oil on the floor under the car but nothing.

never had this problem before with any car

What do I do now?

thanks to all.

How much oil have you put in it? The V6 takes about 6.7 litres. If you've only put 5 litres or less in, you'll need more.

Thanks, I have not put that much in but I put about4 litres in. would that not be enough to show on the dipstick?

I use Mobil Super 1000 which I've used quite a few times before without problems, thanks

recommend you down load the Castrol oil app so you can check oil grade and quantity require for just about any engine ,

Castrol Australia - NetLube

I use this app most days to check which oils and how much to refill

Just had a quick look it calls for 7.6 - 8.3L for my L98. Surely it doesn't take that much oil???

It sure does! I have an L77 and a LS3 and both take 7.6 litres for a complete fill.

I just bought it and had the full blown works done by a mechanic but from now on I will service it. Had it for 2000kms so still got a little too go. What do you do? Buy a 5L and 2 x 1L.
