Ok. Even if I can't data log, the button is there on my car, just greyed out. If that would allow at least the gauges to display???

Or is it the motec unit that is polling the bus and then passing that to the mylink.

Or... lol, is the motec unit like one of those media boxes that is actually displaying directly to the mylink screen?

I’m not 100% sure but I believe the motec module is connected to the can bus and to MyLink but the system is locked to specific hsv vin. As such you need a modded motec module and modded MyLink to be able to run it on a lowly Holden.

Really, the last of the latest and greatest limited edition Holden’s should have got such a system as standard... but Holden was cheap...

It was never a Holden option...
It was a relatively cheap option on HSV, very expensive aftermarket option on Holden.
Heah I know it wasn’t ever an option on Holden’s, so just sloppy wording on my part to say “standard”. But it should have been a feature included in a $70k motorsport that still wasn’t feature equivalent to the Chevy SS which was sold as a runout at a 30% discount in the states

Something similar to EDI should have been included on the motorsport as standard. Software wise it’s bugger all to code such a feature within MyLink and on a motec module (which is probably dumber than a $30 RPi compute module) ;)

It was a 'teaser' to purchase a HSV...
You pay a premium to get an HSV, the premium includes better instrumentation, data logging, things for the driver, like a better steering wheel, and much better seats.
Of course, all that extra torque from an LSA, helps with the bigger smile as well... Also not an option on the Holden LE's...

yes it works like a dealer level mdi with gds2 to allow full dealer level diagnostics and also works with a tds subscription which allows module programming like adding keys, firmware updates etc.

out of the box it has the gds2 diagnostic packages included for gm (holdens) between 2014 and 2020 and the tech 2 emulator(tech2win) for holdens before that.

a tds subscription for programming/updates costs $55 for 2 years for 1 vin
[/URL].

for $200 it is not a bad buy.

Dude!!!! This is amazing info!!!!

So for those with say Win10 and not a VM, will it still work based on your previous instructions?

yes it will work in win 10 32 or 64 but in win 10 you will need to allow the GDS2.exe through defender because it is a program that hacks the original gm gds2 to work with the diagnostic packages and like any keygen/hack the antivirus companies flag it as a trojan/virus.
