I havent had this sort issue, as I dont have a VF
But this little bit of advice may help,

Resetting the codes all the time would be a PITA,
I would start checking the plugs/connectors it does sound like a common denominator,
I'd be inclined to download the Service Manual, Its a all PDF PC Manual,
will not work on a phone or ipad,

Holden VF,WN & HSV Gen-F Workshop Manual

Check the -
"Diagnostic Information and Procedures" (as it has Diagnostic Instructions)
&
"Wiring Systems and Power Distribution"/"Schematic and Routing Diagrams"

That's not acceptable

I'm sure forum member Skylarking will be able to give you some good advice on that issue.

I forget to mention about that,

As that would past the 90 day Warranty period.

From my experience that tends to be a battery issue. How old is the battery?

Possibly that was why the owner sold it to dealer,

Dealer reset the codes,
and sold it on.

Who was the Dealer ?
Name them and Shame them !

You don't need to say anything about them,
Just let us know where you bought it.

So the members will stay clear of them.

Or alternator ?

VE's & VF can create strange issues with unusual voltages.

Hence check the Diagnostic Instructions for your codes.

Not all Holden Dealerships are KIA,
some are KIA & Mitsubishi I have noticed on my travels.

I am assuming you are South of Melbourne ?
