Do you use 95 or 98?

I have always used 98/ 95 from Shell or Ampol/ Caltex or BP pertrol stations which see quite a bit of traffic (all on A3, Sydney). Very rarely (like when in regional areas) when 98/ 95 was not available, it was E10/ 91. But thanks to COVID, I have not had to fill up E10/ 91 in the past 2-3 years.

So you know why I asked. :)
If I'm honest with myself, I've not driven the VF on anything less than 95 for long enough to tell the difference. My impressions were formed from driving the Ecomoo VS on 91 vs 95, slamming the accelerator into the carpet yielded no discernible difference in feel but light-throttle usage very obviously needed more welly to achieve the same acceleration on 91, it was subtle but definitely there & it made the car feel broken.

There's nothing stopping a PULP tank from getting crap in it, though, and I guess if fewer people buy it then you might strike some really old stuff on occasion ...

Yea. Shite happens. My car is working well now. And hence my suggestion to the OP to try a good fuel system/ injector cleaner before replacing expensive parts on a trial and error basis.

GMH is as good as dead and others who could help you (independent mechanics etc.) will try to rip you off the moment they realise you don’t know much about a subject matter. Forums like JC are one of the few places to get unbiased suggestions/ recommendations/ opinions and decisions can be taken based on the collective knowledge of contributing members.

Only if you don't find a good one ... I suspect they're in the minority. This is why I do the 1.5+hr trip each way to the place I take our cars ...

I agree. Mind sharing contact details of the good man (or woman) who runs that shop?

I regularly do around here! :)

The Rev Doctor at Hornsby, 9477 7009.
He’s probably more at home building a 1963 Chev race car for you, rebuilding your 308GTS powertrain (Magnum Style) or getting that Escort Lotus Twin Cam running properly with a brand new batch of home-brewed Lucas smoke … but he’s honest & a good bloke & knows what he’s doing with the VF too.

Much appreciated!
My car is approaching its next service interval. I'll give them a go.
