Sudden Loss of Acceleration/Power

Car: SV6 Commodore SIDI 2009, ODO: 200K KMS

Driving to work and about 2 minutes in, I had a sudden loss of power, high revs but less acceleration and speed. Sounded like it dropped and driving like on 5 cylinders.

We had a mechanic out and reckon it dropped a valve. We had a second opinion and he recommended doing plugs etc then we had another mechanic out who did an injector clean and he couldn’t figure out what was wrong. It now idles smooth it just the acceleration issue.

I'm just really stuck, has the car finally given up on me or what's the deal. Don't really wanna pawn it to wreckers as I wanted to give it to my son for his 18th. Worried about driving it again as I don't want any further issues that can be easily fixed or fixed for cheaper than creating worse problems for myself.

Dropped a valve ??? it wouldn't run, or even start, (sounds like he wants to replace the motor for an expensive exercise)

Get it scanned first, and see what DTC's has been recorded,
Then take it from there
