- 2006 vz Sv6
I brought a 2006 SV6 3.6 alloytech about a month ago and it has some sort of issue with using a bit of coolant. Generally about 200ml on the days i drive it (I am filling from the radiator the next day, not the resivor) ....usually i do about 100ks on an average day. The temp gauage stays at its normal 1/4 mark and I have had it move up slightly to the next marker, so sitting about 3/8. This happens when stuck in slow traffic, as soon as cars moving again (100km) it comes back down.
Now, I've found that it uses no water at all if I have my heater temp slightly over half and it will only move temp guage up if I'm stuck in traffic for like 5 min. But if i put the temp to the cool side, it moves up to that 3/8th mark alot quicker and the next day it has used some water. This is not with any fans going for the heater it is simply just the dial itself I am adjusting.
I've never had the temp hit the 1/2 way mark but there's obviously something not quite right going on. I've been through and read a lot of the cooling issues on here but nothing seems to match up and its not overheating as much as most others. Any ideas on what it could be? It's my first Holden and I'm in love...i just dont want to leave the issue in case it turns into something major.
Thanks.
