[QLD] Tinting tail lights illegal?

Ok I'm not one who's into tail light tinting, but a bloke at work tinted his own lights on his SS ute. They ae D A R K!!! When I mentioned the hassles he could have with cops and insurance, he said he's been pulled over on a few occasions and the cops never mentioned it.
My son recently told me he heard that in QLD it is now illegal to have any tint on tail lights whatsoever. I havn't heard this from any other source.. Just interested to know if this is true. Anyone know for sure?

Tinting tail lights is totally legal, PROVIDED they still meet these standards. Generally speaking though, tinting will guarantee they dont, so effectively the answer is actually NO.

Yeah I agree, they suck, but I was surprised to hear that they're now totally illegal in QLD.

Come on guys, we know that there's differing opinions as to tail light tinters being wankers or not, I agree as they are dangerous. Question is though, has it recently been made illegal in QLD? I know it WAS legal to a certain extent, but is it true that it's totally illegal now?
