You've already done the difficult bit. Now unbolt the heads and pull them off (go in a spiral pattern from outermost bolts to the middle bolts). Make sure you get all of the gasket material off the block and head surfaces. Ideally, you should have the heads resurfaced, but most of the time you can get away without it with the v6 having such short heads. A razor blade does an excellent job.

If you're unsure if you're on the right track with cleanliness etc, post some pics so we can give you feedback/advice. That way you'll get it right the first time.

Can use a toothbrush if you're they need to be cleaned. Personally, I clean them with spray on oven cleaner and let heads sit for 10 minutes and pressure wash them. If you do that, you need to spray wd40 on them straight away or pour vinegar on them and dry them off to neutralise the acidity.

Clean everything when it's apart. Make sure everything is surgically clean before you put it back together.

You can leave the Pistons alone. Otherwise, you end up making a mess which you can't really clean without using compressed air to remove the little pieces of carbon that fall down and sit on the tip ring between the the cylinder and piston. So it's up to you whether you think you can remove all of the carbon
