Hey guys

one issue after another. only 100kms into my engine swap it appears the ECU let go. Its a non-abs single air bag ute with a 961 Mid BCM. I installed a complete set out of an executive with dual bags and abs - its a 588 mid. It fixed the issues (the thing ran as rough as guts and had powertrain error message) but now I have created another set of problems. So, do I have to find the exact set or can someone plug in and turn off these messages or can I send the ecu off like earlier models and they wipe the software for abs and traction etc.

codes are U0121 no can bus communication with abs/tc/esp/cc
and U0415 invalid can bus data from abs/tc/esp

A wrecker told me the fact I have a single bag clockspring may give trouble using a kit from a dual bag car - maybe this is triggering other codes? not sure.
Any suggestions on a solution would be warmly welcomed

Thanks in advance!

Sound like you haven't linked the ECU & BCM,

Best to send it off to a ECU & BCM Specialist,
One of the sponsors of JC's does them I think,
I stand corrected if I am wrong.

Hi,
Re-reading your problem? 1st the ecu has nothing to do with abs or the airbags.
The srs module takes care of the airbags, so if you didn't change that, that is why its cracking the shits about the airbags.

Abs module takes care of the abs. Nothing to do with the ecu.

Its probably the wrong srs module causing all the problems. So get the exective srs module for dual airbags, & l think you'll be good?

So it does start?

they are linked mate because they are all from the same donor vehicle thanks

I think you have taken the passenger airbag out of the execetive & put it in your ute, yes? When you took the airbag(s), were the seats still in the car? If so did the seats have side airbags in them? If the seats did have side airbags & the seats where gone by the time you got to it, there would still be the wiring, so there would be orange plugs next to the yellow plugs. What l'm trying to determine is how many airbags the donor car had?

How many airbags you have will determine how the cluster will be set up.
See how you going with this.
You are going to need enyvous custom body diagnostics.

runs perfectly mate. The kit is all matched but it's not speaking to something mechanically ie the lack of ABS on the ute, the single airbag rather than two, maybe even traction etc I can't see why the SRS has anything to do with anything - it's not throwing an SRS code, it's throwing braking errors, in fact, the brake dummy light is on and its saying abs fault and brake fault as I drive. It's also locked me out of the radio also

nah mate. forget me touching airbags. I just fried an ecu and so I have replaced a complete 'set' to get the car running perfectly. the set was from a vehicle with different configuration to the ute being repaired. Good point on the cluster though, I have tried to link them previously but had no luck in a VT SS. maybe I need to try a cluster from a dual airbag and abs vehicle?

Are we talking about a ute?
Is the ute a vt ss, or something else all together?
VZ ute mate. I had no success linking a VT SS cluster in the past mate. thats all im saying with respect to a VT SS

How were you trying to link the vtss cluster?

Back to the vz ute. The cluster airbags abs have to match up one thing that doesn't match up & you get chimes going of.

I went through all this **** years ago. All l needed to get was ec body diagnostics to solve my probem.

Your ecu & bcm should be fine.

So no change of airbags.

Is the cluster working? If so. Do you access to engineering diagnostics (mode up down or is left right)?
