As the title suggests just wanted to findout some info on the ve as i am seriously considering 1 for my next car most likely a ve berlina as my budget is about 15k and from the ones ive seen for sale private 15k for a good ve berlina would be doable with abit of negotiation. I cannot afford a calais and from what ive found out the only calais worth getting is a calais V because of the full leather and rear dvd player they are way out of my budget. what are the differences between a ve berlina and calais 06/07 year range also how many ve;s in general are out there that are on gas (only ones ive seen on gas are omega and i dont want an omega) also there doesnt seem to be very many ve's with sunroofs at all that ive seen except for the REALLY up market models it would be to much to ask for a ve berlina on gas with a sunroof? do they suffer from any major mechanical problems and if so at what milage do these problems present themselves at\
cheers

OK mate, I'll try to help. As far as the sunroof question goes most appear to be fitted after-market, although I think it could have been a factory option on a new purchase, so finding one with a roof fitted is pretty hit and miss.
Nothing wrong at all with the Berlina model and to me would be preferable over the Omega.
Be aware there were some issues with the earlier 06 and 07 VE models and I think the issues were throughout the range. Some were minor some not so, but most probably would have been addressed under warranty.
But your budget is what you want to spend and fair enough too.
My advice would be to try and get a lower km vehicle and one that has been serviced regularly, and by a Holden dealer if possible.
The VE is a good automobile and far better than previous commodores.
I wish you all the best with your search, and eventually you find what suits you and your budget best, just test drive, test drive, test drive.
Regards.

nice attitude bud!
there have been so many threads on this very topic, and since the VE section is only 3 pages it wouldnt take a half competent reader to find what they were looking for. but no, you think calling us all arsewipes is going to get what you are after.
nice.

cya mike.

and finally...
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au...364-recalls-ve-wm-series-holden-vehicles.html

That was 4 minutes with the search button - and the sticky recall thread at the top of the page. Any issues are usually across the range (or at least across the engine type) - not isolated to one model.

And as for the question they don't answer... yes. A Berlina on gas with a sunroof in good condition probably is too much to ask for - unless you're farkin lucky.

Hey Mike,

Be cool Brother, Is a hectic, stressful time buying a car.

Going through it myself.. I started with a budget but am willing to blow it out a bit more to get something fully serviced and low k's..

If you type into you tube. billion dollar baby Ve commodore, it will tell you about the ve..

What ever you get, just get it checked out.

And over the years Modify yourself..

By the way... the guys in here have been nothing but great in helping me..

And it took me 3 days to read the threads on the Ve's. Let alone stopping to admire there cars..

Good luck with the search. And post a pic when you get it...
