I was on the road on holiday. Been months since the unit went blank. Had my wifr pull the unit up while we we on the hiway, pushed it back in and Bingo, works still. Only bad part is you lose all the pre-sets!

Disconnecting the battery is too much trouble!

You guys are legends!
The disconnect battery worked for me.
Pity I spent hours goin' through the book and checking fuses before I looked you up;)
Can anyone please tell me how to disconnect the facia if it’s a series 2?
It doesn’t seem like it will pop out.

They must be all alike...........
Grab the bottom, hand inside the tray under, just give a steady pull outwards.
Should just release. If you have some rubbing alcohol you could give all the contact points a gentle wipe. Alcohol will evaporate. Gently push it all back in place the way it came off.
Like I said, I was on the road, wifey gave it a tug, pushed it back on and Bob's your uncle.
Even look it up on youtube.

Mate I don’t think so, the trimming around it won’t let me do it and from what I can see there looks to be screws in it.
I have a 2012 series 2 thunder Ute and there’s nothing on you tube that shows how to dismantle it. I have literally pulled everything out as if I’m upgrading the Stereo and still can’t seem to get to it, any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers for the reply

You need to remove the console and move it to the rear to get access to the lower screws on the facia.

Thanks mate, thought so.
So glad I didn’t force it.
Do I then pull it back from the bottom or does it slide down?
Thanks again

Move the console back, remove the lower screws and the whole facia will detach.

just to add to the database on this issue, my 2009 Ve SS ute this morning had nothing in the centre, no clock, no flashers, no radio, no air cond... nothing.
had to drive to the next town and back around an hour all up, half-way it just came to life like bloody magic. I was thinking poor connection as it has been really dry here for a while and not good for electrical unions. Anyway see how it goes.

Try pulling the facia off completely.

Wrap your fingers up behind the base of it and pull outwards, it just clips in.

Then clip it back into place and see if it comes back to life.

I literally signed up to this forum just to say Thankyou mate, this was doing my head in and you just saved me $$$ going to an auto electrician!
