Hi all.
I hope all has been well for everyone reading this.

Went to start my VE sv6 ly7 auto yesterday morning and I was blessed with gremlins.

I’ll paint a picture first:
220xxx on odometer.

I have owned the car for the past 8 month. It has been as reliable as gold (NEVER had a check engine light).

Healthy trans and engine.

Pacemaker headers, manifold spacer, aftermarket Growler intake, were installed 3xxx ago and car has been going strong since.

Car was running great the day before.

Here is what is happening:
Go to start car:

Radio and check system power cuts out.

Contact Holden dealer
Stability control off.

No power to fuel gauge either. (Does not show how much fuel is in tank, but it always does). Has 3/4 tank of fuel

Clean and tight battery terminals

Car was running great yesterday

Anyhow, I called the family mechanic to have a look. He checked all fuses, battery, everything. Plugged in his o2 scanner and couldn’t see anything (presumably because he can’t start the car).

He is just as confused as I am.

His comments:

“ When I go to start the car, it is like my tool does not recognise that there is an engine”

“You will have to speak to an auto electrician because I don’t think any mechanic could fix this”

Any suggestions are welcomed

Sorry for the essay, but I am just trying to paint the clearest picture

There is 2 fuses running off the positive battery terminal is one of them blown?
Might be able to check visually but only takes a second with a multimeter.
I hope your "family mechanic" checked them LOL

Yes he did. And no, what I meant by “family mechanic” is the mechanic my family has been taking our cars to for the past 20 or so years

Cheers for the suggestion

Have you had the battery 'load tested'?

Don’t know but he believes the battery is fine. I did try jump start it though using a jumper pack. Nothing. I am stunned.

Battery might have failed internally or lost a cell.
And check the fusible links on the +ve battery terminal.

Do you think it would cause the “contact dealer” and stability control to go off? Will try a battery tomorrow hopefully

Dud batteries cause 'amazing' problems in VE's...

Come on, a "mechanic" would have load tested the battery and checked the fusible links if he was any good or even if he was barely a mechanic..
Cannot see a mechanic saying it's like the engine is not there and you need a auto electrician.
More to this story, it's like someone tried to jump start the car and has blown a fusible link and doesn't know what they are or what they look like.

The car was never jumpstarted by me prior to this problem. I only tried after the problem occured, with a jumper pack. I think what the mechanic meant was that, his scan tool cannot detect an engine is there or power is going to the engine
