There is no harm in trying the small cheap and easy parts because at the end of the day, if you replace the fuel filter and it isnt that, then atleast you know that the fuel filter is new and either way its helping the car.

Is the motor shuddering as if its missing? If it was tailshaft or centre bearing youd be able to hear it or youd be able to look under the car and see if it is no good.

Yeah I would definitely just try it. I have been through so many fuel filters because the fuel can sometimes be dirty and clog up the filter. I always keep a filter at home just in case i need it late at night or if I get stuck.

ve fuel filter is a part of the pump assembly so not as easy or cheap to replace as previous commodores
check under your rear seat to see if theres a round hole it have a cover on it to access the fuel pump

Oh really? I swear my VE was external. Still something to look at though

vz was the last to use external fuel filter unless somebody did a bypass, a popular mod with motorcycles intank pumps and filters

If there is no inspection hole under the back seat base, the whole rear assembly (diff, brakes, drive shafts, rear cross member) has to be dropped to get to the fuel pump. As mentioned, the fuel pump has the filter inside it as part of the pump assembly.

I very much doubt this is your issue.

Saying it again, torque converter.

Drive shaft centre bearing.

Torque converter is more like an aggressive ABS engaging kind of feel.
