Hi All,

Has anyone solved or figured out a reasonable fix for water ingress from windscreen into the engine bay in the VEs? I have a 2010 series 2 SV6 which lets a torrential flow of water under/through the cowling and rubber seal/s into the engine bay on the drivers side, it pours straight onto a vertical electrical connector. Happy to buy something or pay someone who can fix this up, but quite concerned it will start to do damage to electricals etc after not too long.

Have had a look around and heard that it's a semi common problem, per this thread (but it's been 12 years since then!): http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?142473-VE-Firewall-Waterfall/page6

Thanks

It’s designed to do that

It’s not meant to be water tight.
Over the wiper motor, there’s a rubber cover. I replaced mine with a sheet of thin nitrile rubber.

Will it damage plugs? No. They are weather proof. Can something be fabricated? No. You would need to redesign the car. It is what it is.

Seriously? Who in their right mind would design it to flow water directly into a electrical connector? There's no way it's designed to drip into the backside of a wiring loom, and no way there's no negative effects from that happening long term

Can not see the link you provided, as it says it's a risk and a virus possibly attached !

There won’t be. Again. The plug is weather proof.

The wiper plug is not but it’s never been an issue on any model previous. On VE the wiper motor and plug is covered with a sheet of rubber. I don’t know what answer you want to hear.

Well the plug is weather proof and it is not covered.
This is the area once the wiper shrouds are removed.

My VE Calais. That is also a VF wiper assembly.

VE and VF were designed to be like that. There is no big deal.

Who would design a car to have a hard to clean hidden away area that collects leaves and dirt to cause rust and smell? Every Holden previous to VE.

Exactly. The water sheeting directly off the windscreen into the engine bay is a feature not a drawback! No cowl panel under the windscreen to rust away and leak water into the interior of the car.
