Hey does anyone have any experience running 4.11s in an auto vf ss? Curious to know how the 6l80e pairs up with 4.11s on the freeway in terms of revs haha. The car is a not my daily so I’m not looking for sublime drivability here, but I’m also not looking to fully throw it away either. Cheers

They will work fine, but the 6 speed can get away with less.

I’ve got a diff with 3.7s laying around at home that I was going to install but then a mate of mine offered me his diff with 4.11s. Do I bother swopping it? Or 3.7s will be plenty ?

Yea 3.7 will be plenty on a six speed.

get your current rpm at 100kph and divide it by your current diff ratio and then multiply it by the 4.11 and that will be the new rpm at 100kph, also first gear will be useless, and a trans tune will be needed or u will prob damage it throwing the speeds and rpm rate out

3.27 works fine with an LS3 and 6L80e.

Maybe that's why this combination was fitted at the Holden plant?
Mind you why not stuff a nice car up by playing with a tyre igniting diff ratio and turning the gearbox into a 4 or 5 speed by having 22% more revs at the diff? /s
A 3.7 diff, like the manual models, seems slightly smarter to me.

I just dont get the point of anything greater than 3.27, possibly 3.45 but it makes first gear useless above those ratios! 4:1 1st gear ratio in 6l80

Faster acceleration, as said a tune on the trans would be needed as it will help with the quick gear change in 1st.
What the whole point is, is increasing torque.
The torque increase helps with acceleration.
If you're just cruising then no it's pointless, and 2.92s will be fine.

Totally agree! The overall LS3 gearing with an auto as a general road car is very good and better than a manual.

I've driven a VF2 auto with 4.11's and would likely be good on the drag strip with slicks, but useless on the road, way too low for the trans ratios.
