After work I put my car on the weigh bridge. I wasn't in it, and it still had some tools, a bag, laptop and lunch box etc.
It weighed 1600kg (to the nearest 10).
More than I expected, and I may even weigh everything as I empty the car later, lol.
It gives me a good idea of race weight though.
Interesting, I thought the VR/VS was around 1450kg

I'm definately well over the Sorento's tow capacity when I go to the track then :p

Yeah I wasn't sure whether to expect 1300 or 1500 as everything on the Internet is conflicting.
Maybe 1450 is the V6 berlina or something? Add another 50 for the V8? Plus I still have cruise, ABS, air conditioning, electric windows etc.

What is the realistic towing capacity of a kia? 750kg probably :D

Haha this is the big one :p

It's rated at 2200kg braked, the trailer I use is around 700kg....so I knew I was over, but I didn't know I was way over :p

Well there is your problem, you calculated the situation.
What is my car rated to tow? How heavy was that tandem I hired? What does my truck weigh with more stuff inside it for transport?
I don't know the answer to any of those questions.....

Interesting.
Maybe the scales were a bit off (they are more suited to 10T truck loads than sedans).
On another note, I just removed 36kg from the car.
And my fuel tank is around half.

I don't know if that weight is dry or wet.

Race day!
Last night I removed the tail section of the exhaust and fitted the shark tooth diff dump to the muffler. That was another 7.6kg saved.
Today I went down, swapped tyres, had a great (random allocation) pit space right near the front. And probably less than 10meters from my brother so that was cool too.
My 3 (4) qualifying runs were a consistent 8.9, 8.9, 8.95, 9.0
Twice against a 1000hp 69 charger (lost) and twice against a 34 Ford (lost).
And then eleminations I ran against a green HZ ute and sat at his A/B pillar the whole run for a narrow loss. Time unknown.

It was a really good day doing 8th mile runs right down town. Traction was an issue for most all big power cars. And my brother took out the import class and the V8 vs import challenge, so stoked for him.

My last drags in the car (1/4mile) it was about 9.6 half track so I'm really stoked with today's numbers.
I did some fine tuning for the shift point 1->2 and a fraction on the wot VE's. 2nd is topping out just on the 1/8th mile finishing point so the car is in a good place where it is. And an 8.9 half track would equate to roughly 13.3/13.4 full qtr.
