If you can get your hands on an engine crane, once it is at the right height use a pole or engine support to hold it at that height,
while you remove the crane to get access to the sump.
Before you lift up the engine I would remove the distributor to make sure I didn't bend it,
Taking note what position it was in and plug the dizzy hole with a clean rag.

Dosent the engine crane only hold the engine in position, Does it actually lift?

engine crane lifts, other wise it would be called a brace, engine support or holder.
No I'm not being smart I'm just answering your question as there is no sarcasm is intended.

Put car on stands, support gearbox with jack and flat timber , take front wheels off, undo steering one bolt down near rack, put another jack under K frame, remove 4 K frame bolts slowly lower K frame. completely lower jack ,k frame will hang, remove sump. Fit new pick up. Gasket Reverse procedure to install. Take tap covers off pour 1ltr diesel down each return line, 4 return lines 2 per tap cover. Let it air out over night replace tap covers put sump bolt back in fill with oil away you go. Sludge is caused by over burnt oil. Not changing oil regular. Change oil regular it won't sludge. Ps, you don't have to run engine with diesel in it. Clean pan out wen off whilst doing pick up. Undo engine mounts at start sorry, don't have to prime pump doing this way.as it's same as normal oil change.

You can undo sump plug . Drain oil, take tap covers off pour diesel down 4 return lines , about a ltr each line, air out overnight put sump bolt back in tap covers back on . Fill with oil and go. But pick up may still be blocked. So it's probably best replace pick up. Early pick ups we're size off dinner plates. These days there bout size of 20cent piece
