VY Strut brace help

Hi guys,

I have a new strut brace that I was about to install on my VY ute, however I noticed that the holes don't line up.

Over years the towers have flexed inwards ever so slightly.

My thinking was... if I jack it up via the centre, will this help in moving them out while I put the brace on??

Just a thought, not sure if this is a good idea or not...

Maybe 10mm at the most I think...

And people say that strut braces don't do anything and are a waste of money.

that is a lot, I would be checking it has not been involved in accident, like any creases in the frame etc.....

Lift the front tyres off the ground. when i went to put mine on it wouldn't line up, but when you take the weight off the front tyres everything lines back up.

I have bought one of the new old stock genuine gm ones off eBay to stuff around with. Any idea what the tightening torque of the nuts should be before I install it ?

Will be interesting to see if the holes also don't line up on mine, I find the thought of that much flex deeply concerning and this thread was the main reason I purchased one :rofl2:

How much did you pay for the holden old stock strut brace.. I was just at the stealership and they said there 62+ gst so about 68 with nuts to fit.. Its gunna take 1 or 2 days to get it In..
