Replaced the Idle Air Control sensor in my dirty old VS ute, still idling high occasionally.

Rego due next month, time to retire the old girl I think

Have you cleaned the throttle body?

Where did the new iac sensor come from?

On the vt, there is idle relearn. (its in the workshop manual). I imagine there is one for the vs too?

from VS onward, the IAC should do a reset at every engine start.

Should?
But there is a idle relearn in the workshop manual for when it doesn't?

Hasn't worked for me. But that could be the iac sensor itself?

Mine will go to 1500 rpm on the first start up of the day, give it a couple of revs, & it will come back to under 1000 rpm.
Then seems ok on later start ups?

Have you adjusted the butterfly stop screw at all?

yes.

I think worn throttle body? or iac sensor is bodgey? I got sick of buying new ones, looking for a good one?

The TPS needs to read below a certain voltage or it upsets the idle. Try closing the butterfly a touch with the stop screw and see what it does.

Then try opening it a touch.

Ideally you need some sort of logger or way to see what the TPS voltage is and IAC steps. Hot idle I believe TPS needs to be under 1 volt and IAC about 20-30 steps IIRC.

Haven't touched the TB yet, sensor came off a spare engine I have here, I don't trust the aftermarket ones.
