Hi, I just bought a new VF SSV Redline. On the whole, I love it but it's really struggled to get started the past few mornings.

The battery voltage on the display says 13.9v (I have seen it as high as 14.3v). The vehicle was supplied with a new, fully charged battery.

Other than taking it to the dealer, does a run up the highway still sort this sort of thing out? If yes, how far would I need to run it for?

Anything else I can check?

Having to go to the dealer is a big problem due to work, so I'm hoping it's something simple many forum readers might know about.

Thanks,
Richard

With the car running & alternator charging the battery that is a normal reading. You want to see about 12.6v without car running. Best time to check would be first thing in the morning when you are normally struggling to start it

take it to an auto sparky for a load test, dealers don't know squat and will fob you off - also I doubt the battery had any kind of warranty.

Everything is fine mate. Less than 13.5 while running would have me worried.

Mine has done the same for the last couple of weeks. I just assumed it doesn't like cold mornings. The Evo X used to do the same thing on cold mornings as well. The Evo would stop though, where the VF just sits at about 1.5k rev range a bit longer to warm things up.

How old is it??? Running V charged sounds fine but if it's a dud battery and not holding charge then it may explain what you are experiencing. As mentioned, get a load test done on it and also test the voltage at the end of the day after you shut off the motor and 1st thing in the morning before you start the car (you will need a multimeter to do this)

A good quality battery should not struggle to start a car on a cold morning.

I give the VX a flick in the mornings and she cranks and starts without a hitch. Even the Monaro that sits all week doesn't have any issues in the cold/morning.
