sounds like ignition switch
there is a shaft at the back of the barrel which often breaks and can cause this
is a bit tricky to fix unless you are confident

+3 for the ignition barrel, with a new starter fuse and relay, its the only thing that can cause the starter to stay engaged. (Providing the new relay and sensor werent buggered out of the box) my local sparky quoted me $180 for a new ign barrel supplied and fitted with 1 extra key to match the original working one
