I totally agree. With the RMS vs PMPO the difference is usually greater eg: JVC 6" 120w Max, RMS 40w. Old speakers used to be labelled like this : Max power 100w nominal power 15w. This means that the speaker will work comfortably at 15w only and will not explode if you have a power spike but if you put a true 200 watts through it will die and quickly.
I think we have all heard mates systems with big amps and 200+w speakers that sound like crap and can't achieve any sort of volume without distortion. It pays to fully check the capabilities of components. Read the box carefully. Pioneer (not the best but still very good) appear to have low wattage speakers compared to other brands but their figures are closer to the truth. Decks too : Panasonic claim 50x4 watts but only manage a true 16 x 4 whilst Pioneer claim 45x4 watts and manage 35x4 watts so in real terms is 50% louder (4 x power for twice the volume is what I have been told) .
Of course I could have been mislead as it has happened many times before.
Not sure if this is the best spot for this question, I've looked through a few other threads and not found an answer yet.
Probly a simple one, but how do u remove the standard Blaupunkt head unit form a VY?
i heard from an electrician of 10years the polarity DOES matter.
he said it makes the sub thump INwards if theyre around the wrong way and u lose a bit of power (not a lot)
