yeah mate, it is.

Well if your sub is 4 ohm then it's only getting 200rms at the moment anyway,and not 400. Adding a second 4 ohm sub will provide 200 rms to "each" sub. I can't just assume your subs are a single voice coil 4 ohm though without a model number i can't confirm anything.

And draw less current.
that's a rather confusing suggestion...

if its a class D amp, and does 800watts into 2ohm, its going to draw almost identical current to a different class D amp that does 800watts into 1ohm...

Got any proof to back that up out of interest ?
I dont other than my own testing.

Serious question.

As a general rule, power in a system can be represented as the following equation: P= V*I

Using Ohm's law, we can get that equation in terms of current and resistance.

Ohm's law: V= I*R

Thus P= I*R*I
or P=R*I^2

Thus, the current can be represented as:

I= squareroot(P/R)

800W @ 2ohm
I= 20A

800W @ 1ohm
I= 28.3A

Thus theoretically, you should see a difference in current due to a change in resistance at constant power.

That's the current through the sub...

So 800W @ 2 ohm would be flowing 20A at 40V.

And

800W @ 1 ohm would be flowing 28.3A at 28.3V.

You're still drawing 800W through the amp from a 12V supply which is 66.7A before amplifier inefficiency.

Blown VS Calais !!
Missed the :p I assume ?

If I'm wrong that's means you're saying that it will draw more current running 2ohm instead of 1 ohm to make same power ?

Even it's 2 amps less current draw @ 2 ohm then I was still right.

no, you were wrong, and its worrying that you think the "proof" given means you were right... :/

Sorry your Highness, as usual you are correct in your infinite wisdom and everyone else knows nothing.

Missed the :p I assume ?

Whatever you do, don't say you hit 150dB in your Calais. You'll never hear the end of it.

what I said, was:

The current draw will be close enough to not even bother worrying about it.

If you're worrying about it, you are wrong.

I'm still waiting to see your "testing".

I assume you've tested every single 800watt amp ever built, both at 1ohm, and 2ohm, and came up with the average efficiency of each?

Sorry your Highness, as usual you are correct in your infinite wisdom and everyone else knows nothing.

shut up dumbass. Edit. Sorry that was a bit rude, please shut up.
