nah hes put off by the fact that he came in with a link for a specialist paint, told us he knew what he was doing, found out he knows squat, and its not going to be as easy as he thinks. He is also a bit peeved that no-one has congratulated him on his wonderful choice of paint. He isnt after assistance, he is after a pat on the head. Unfortunately for him, it seems assistance is what he actually needed.
Andrew, if you actually want someone to take you seriously, heres how you go about it.
"Hi, I havent sprayed a car before, and I was wanting some advice as to how to go about it. I've searched the forums and found no step by step instructions.
Also, I have noticed *this paint* on ebay and I was wondering.. is it any good? Is it hard to spray? Do I need to add anything else to this pack as they advertise it, like primer or whatever. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated."
This establishes a number of things that will make people more likely to want to help you.
Firstly, you are admitting you know squat. This gives us the ability to judge what skill you have, and just how thorough the advice needs to be. It also makes you look like less of a twat when you ask questions about stuff you claim to already have some knowledge about.
Secondly, it shows us that you have actually bothered searching for the info you want, instead of making someone type it all out for the 4 millionth time when its already here, just waiting for you to read it.
Thirdly, it implies that you will read, listen and learn , and all our typing isnt wasted on someone who just wants to be a knob and abuse those that do try to offer advice.
There is a lot of stuff on spraypainting here, read it and learn. Over and out.
