Do it the usual way,
Get a BIG oil pan from Supercheap or Repco, can always use it with Engine oil change and, and in this case Auto Oil change
Loosen the bolts SLOWLY, and let it drain in the oil pan,
Then loosen them a bit more till the Auto Sump is almost off,
Remove it, clean it up [while the remainder of the oil is dripping/draining from the auto]
Replace the Filter, and re-assemble it the Auto Sump with a new gasket, and tension the bolts up to spec.
This is the tricky part [not hard, just a but tricky]
The VE Autos don't have a dip stick to refill them, [which is PITA]
They do have a re-fill plug [Plastic I think I read] on the top of the trans housing base on the Drivers side,
And you have to put the SAME EXACT amount of oil back in, that you drained, but pumping it in,
there is a procedure to do this, so you don't under fill it, and/or over fill it.
PS: I have attached a image of the re-fill plug location
"Dis-regard the Heading of the Page" as it the only page that shows the filler plug clearly.
