It was a Chrysler that weighed 1200kgs wet. Put a 265 in one and it's a non orbital Falcon 9. Cortina with a 250 was its Ford equivalent. Holden had nothing to compete with them back in the day
Wouldn’t a Torana be the equivalent to a Centura & Cortina/Capri??

So do you want a metal, or the chest to pin it on?

Oh and it was a Simca 180, not the 160

I love Capri's but jee they were really HsOS. They handled like a sack of potatoes rolling around, they were under-braked. Some OS models came out with 302 V8s, I'd hate to think how they would pull up with the extra weight. The early MS suspension had a lot to be desired. Holden had it over Ford, in the day handling wise even in the late 60s and 70s.

Capri came with a 4 banger or a V6......

I've driven an LH Torana with a stroker 202 and stockie 6 pot Toranas and none pushed you back in the seat like the Centura....Would like to compare a V8 LH/LX to see

I owned a TC with a 250 log....Quick car, but didn't lay a finger on the 265 powered Centura

I think the V8 powered Capris came from South Africa...

I do know a lot were V8 transplanted in this country though, but not available through a dealership...
