Yeah they came out of South Africa. I had a 2L Cortina engine in mine with some bolt-ons and it flew. Standing start burnouts without brakes was easy.

I had to be careful in my Centura....Being 4 speed, take off too quick and light up the rears....Luckily the cops never saw that

I nearly rear ended a police car when coming around a corner just before Pongy, after an earlier accident. Needles to say he wasn't happy...... he got out the yellow paged booked and started writing his list, he knew of the car, so didn't bother going over it, he just wrote, and wrote and wrote...... IIRC there wasn't enough lines to fit all the defects on, so he wrote on the blank space. It was a Regency job, so I parted it out....

Wouldn’t a Torana be the equivalent to a Centura & Cortina/Capri??

Not in out of the box rocket ship capability. LC/LJ with a six banger or even LH/LX with a 308 red wasn't that impressive by comparison. My cousin stuck a 308/trimatic in an LC, which are less than a tonne and that was impressive but insane

To put it in perspective, when the VN V6 came out, it put all of them to shame and they ran 16's! Back then if you wanted to go proper fast you bought a 454 and powerglide.... cause displacement. A 13 second quarter was considered like a 10 is now.... Ah nostalgia
