Is the car parked close to something at the back of it ? It's not the reverse sensor going off is it ? That's if you have reverse sensors of course.

Seeing as there are multiple circuits involved it sounds like it could be a BCM issue. Your probably going to have to get an auto electrician to have a look at it.

Have a tow bar fitted? There's a little magnet in the trailer light connection which may have come loose.
