Pinging sound under accel in 6:0 Ltr V8

Almost all of the 6ltr VF's make this noise. Nobody knows what it is exactly, but they are built with it. If you don't have this noise, you either just haven't noticed it yet or just very lucky, or maybe unlucky, who knows. There have been heaps of threads about this noise in the past, just...

Future value of our LS3 Powered VF Series 11

Cars just aren't going to be as collectible as the older ones now are. Nobody knew back then that a car could actually rise in price. It's like all the old toys, you think a barbie or star wars figurine bought from kmart today will be worth money in the future just like the originals, no chance...

VF Series 2 V8 Fuel Consumption

For the average person living in the suburbs, I would be surprised if anyone got under 13L. If they do then they live in the sticks, or just plain lying.

Future value of our LS3 Powered VF Series 11

Unless a limited edition coupe comes out, then the future value of a vf 2 will be about $3000 trade in. In other words, El Zippo.

    VF SV6 Storm Workshop/Serive manual

I heard the electric steering stiffens up the faster you go, is that true? Maybe it's only noticeable on a track.

    VF SV6 Storm Workshop/Serive manual

my 2014 ssv is electric. Pretty sure all vf's are. I know the accessories manual for the vf includes the ve. So maybe that's why it is in there.

    installing cargo barrier ssv sportswagon

Cool, thanks. So the cargo barrier is all done. As it turns out you don't even need a template for the floor screws, you just have to take out the 2 cargo hooks flip the panel over and you will see exactly where you need to drill the holes out. Wish I knew that earlier. Anyway it's all good now...

    installing cargo barrier ssv sportswagon

Ok. So I have the template and instructions, which says I need to remove the load floor bolts and remove the panel, problem is I can't see any bolts, does anyone know where they are? Obviously this is for the barrier to screw into the boot floor. I have the roof sorted.

That would be awesome if you could.

    installing cargo barrier ssv sportswagon

True but I didn't think to ask at the time.

    installing cargo barrier ssv sportswagon

Actually I got your link to work, you're a legend, but I can't print the template to the right scale. The way it says to do it doesn't work.

    installing cargo barrier ssv sportswagon

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it, good to know the ve barrier fits the vf, but the link you sent doesn't work. I bought a barrier off ebay, has the brackets and bolts, even the glass breaker and fire extinguisher, but my wagon only has the holes in the roof to mount, not the floor. A guy is...

    installing cargo barrier ssv sportswagon

Surely someone can help? If holes need to be drilled in the boot floor, does anyone have the template? And does the Ve wagon barrier fit the Vf exactly the same?
  14. C

    installing cargo barrier ssv sportswagon

Hi just wondering if there is already mounting holes in the boot floor to secure a cargo barrier. I know the ones in the roof are already there, just wondering if the ones for the floor had to be drilled or is there already somewhere to mount it.

    Reverse Camera Guide Lines

Put my car in for the 30k service at Melton Holden today, I requested the software update, and listed at least 5 things wrong with the current version. Well guess what, no update, he told me they did a full reset of the system and that I already had the latest software, even though it hasn't...

New SS-V Redline rattle coming from under the car

Yes this is normal, and when I say normal I mean it is a common thing for these engines, just part of the design I guess. And don't get your hopes up, because it will never go away, just gonna have to get used to it. My ssv wagon has done over 20k and it's no better, no worse. As far as I know...

    Fine Clay Bar Use

Look up zainos. Can't go wrong, won't find it in stores, but there is a distributor in Melbourne that will deliver. Their car care products are some of the best in the business.

To buy 12mth old SSV or wait for VF II

Not sure why you think you could get a brand new vf 2 for only 5 to 10k more then a used vf 1. 10k is closer to the mark, but realistically there would be a 15 to 20k difference. I bought a 2014 vfssv wagon for 40k with 15k on the clock, if I wanted a brand new one then I was looking at around...

    Possible lifter rattle

My 2014 ssv wagon has had a rattle noise from the drivers side of the engine under acceleration only, since day 1. Everyone has told me it's normal, the dealers, people on this forum, other vf v8 owners, but not one single person has been able to tell me what the noise is or where it is coming...

    6.0 vs 6.2

Just wondering if the 6.0ltr had any advantages over the 6.2 apart from fuel consumption? Is the 6.2 really that much better?

    Fuel Tank "Sloshing"

I have had my ssv wagon for about 3 months and have heard the fuel "sloshing" around about 3 or 4 times. My tank has never gone below half empty so why I have only heard it a couple times is a mystery. Bit like the snake rattle under acceleration, nobody seems to know why, but seem to know that...

    Software updates

Just to let people know if you didn't already, I contacted Holden head office and they told me that if there is software update available for your car, then any holden dealer has to do it free of charge.

Best mods on a low budget

All I want really is a little more power and throttle response, and a nicer sound to the car, nothing outrageous.

Best mods on a low budget

I don't want a full system on a small budget, I was asking if there was something you should start with in particular and add to it later. I might end up spending 10k on mods, but only gradually, so was looking for a starting point.
  27. C

    Software updates

I didn't realize this update was available. Did they do it for free or what did it cost? Did any other updates come with it?
  28. C

    Software updates

Nothing specific, but what I am getting at is that Holden aren't fixing the problems, or glitches, or bringing out many upgrades. A small example would be that many people want the guide lines for the reverse camera. Surely it would be a simple software upgrade for holden, but they won't do it...

    Car Care

Sorry to go on about it mate, but is that the same sort of thing that the car dealers offer as "paint protection" when selling you the car, which I declined because there are so many people and threads and forums that say it is a rip off? Is it a rip off because it's not what you are talking...

    Car Care

Just wondering what people use to wash and polish their car and also what they use for the leather if you have it. I just got some Zainos car wash and All in one, as well as their leather cleaner and conditioner. I haven't used it yet. Has anyone tried out their all in one product and leather...

Best mods on a low budget

Say I had 1k to spend right now, obviously that isn't gonna get me a nice exhaust, it could get me an otr and tune, but not much point if I want to add an exhaust later, but is there something I could get first for maybe a bit nicer note to the car and add to it later, or best to wait to get...

    Vf engine oil

They actually wrote it in the service book.
  34. C

Best mods on a low budget

I can't really afford a full exhaust and an otr and tune right now (vf ssv wagon). So is there something you can or should get just for starters, or do I need to just wait till I can afford the whole thing in one go?
  35. C

    Vf engine oil

Just had a 15k service and holden used 10w60 oil for the car. Is this normal, as the manual states 5w30 only? Should 5w30 only be used, or is there a reason for this? Should I change it? Does it even matter?
  36. C

    Software updates

Not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but there seems to be a lot of software problems with the vf, such as climate control problems, I just want to know if there is anyone else that has the capability of fixing software problems for the car other than holden?
  37. C

    cargo barrier

Anybody know of an aftermarker cargo barrier that is just as good as the genuine holden one for a vf wagon that doesn't cost over $500, or where to get a genuine one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? And does the VE wagon one fit the VF wagon properly as advertised on Ebay?

    Melbourne tuners?

Just wondering who the better custom tuners in Melbourne are for a vf ssv? Or who are the ones to stay away from. Please post if you have had a good or bad experience with certain shops. If you can include prices, that would be great.

    Vf engine rattle

Cool, I can put up with it as long as it's normal and most if not all the L77's do it. If they don't all do it, there must be a reason.
